Working in the Netherlands in different seasons
In the Netherlands, the weather conditions are different per season. It is important to know this before you come to work in the Netherlands.
In summer it is often warm and sunny. If you come to work outside on the field in the summer, you need light clothing and, for example, a head cover such as a cap against the sun. It is also important that you protect yourself against the sun with sunscreen. This will prevent your skin from burning.
Which crops take place in which seasons?
If you know in which crop you will be working, you can prepare yourself for the weather conditionsn and bring suitable clothing with you.

Harvesting raspberrys under foil tunnels
Working period: June - September
Contract: about 8 - 16 weeks
Working conditions: light outdoor work in the field under foil tunnels, standing work position
Working hours: depending on the weather, work starts at 07.00 in the morning.
Picking strawberries in the field
Period: May - August
Contract: about 12 / 16 weeks
Working conditions: physically quite heavy, many hours in a kneeling position.
Working hours: depending on the weather, work start at 06.00 – 07.00 am.
Harvesting vegetables
Period: May - end of October
Contract: about 6 months
Working conditions: physically quite heavy, in all weather conditions, outside in the field, work have to be done in a kneeling position.
Working hours: depending on the weather and time of the season, work start at 06.00 / 07.00 am.
Picking blueberries
Period: March - December
Contract: about 10 months
Working conditions: light work with high temperature
Working hours: depending on the weather, work start 06.00 or 07.00 am.
Harvesting flowers in the field
Period: June - August
Contract: about 8 weeks
Working conditions: light work, standing position in the summer with high temperature.
Working hours: depending on the weather, work start at 07.00 in the morning.
